General Assembly 4th Committee

Special Political and Decolonisation Committee

Ladies and Gentlemen, without further ado, allow me to introduce you to the first of SGMUN's committees for 2015! Please welcome the General Assembly 4th committee - Special Political and Decolonisation committee, often referred to as the SPECPOL. In the words of the President of SPECPOL:

“For colonized people the most essential value, because the most concrete, is first and foremost the land: the land which will bring them bread and, above all, dignity.” - Frantz Fanon

It’s melancholic to know that these people are people and exploited, and their lands, hence, their bread and dignity too, have been robbed by external powers, in order to strengthen the latter’s hold and help them in their process of establishing monopoly. Lives have lost, not only of warriors and soldiers, but of women and children in this rather selfish process to suffice one’s ego and fill their treasury. From Jerusalem to the Koreas,Kashmir to Somalia, the Central African Republic to Palestine, and most recently Ukraine, everyday lives of many innocent people are disturbed and terrorized in order fill the pride of few. The people must regain their lost land, must comfortably earn their bread and above all, protect one’s dignity and not bow down to these foreign powers. Be it the resources in the South Chinese sea or the resources in the Arcitc Region, we must come together once again and stand up to the challenges.

Delegates of the Special Political and Decolonization Committee, SGMUN 2015, Welcome.
